Six Selection Factors For Canadian PR

Factors For Canadian PR

There are very few developed countries that are welcoming immigrants without any fuss and Canada is one of them. If you want a permanent residency in Canada, you need to be eligible for it. Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has fixed some selection factors to verify your eligibility. If you’re planning to apply for Canada’s PR, you must know about these selection factors:

1. Age:

Age is the first selection factor considered to check eligibility for PR in Canada. Any individual up to the age of 47 years can apply for Canadian PR. However, as per economic immigration programs such as the Express Entry system or Federal skilled worker, the applicants aged 18-35 years score maximum points. Your points start decreasing after 35 years of age and the chances of getting permanent residency decreases. If you’re above 35, you still have a chance of getting Canadian PR. You can get an invitation if you attain good scores based on other selection factors and obtain a provincial nomination from the province of Canada.

You can get a maximum of 12 points under the Age Factor on the following basis:

2. Qualification:

The second most valuable selection factor is your qualifications. The maximum number of points awarded for qualification is 25. You get some key points based on your educational qualifications. You need to submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an approved agency such as WES (World Education Service) to get your qualification. The points are based on the qualification degree – an applicant with a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) level or equal is awarded maximum points.

3. Adaptability:

The next factor that is considered when checking your eligibility is adaptability. An applicant can attain 10 points under this factor. Applicants with a minimum of 1-year full-time Canadian work experience in a technical, managerial, professional, or skilled trade occupation are awarded maximum points. Some other adaptability factors for which you can score points are as follows:

  • Your spouse’s language level
  • Your past study in Canada
  • Your partner’s past study in Canada
  • Your spouse’s past work in Canada
  • Relatives in Canada

4. Arranged employment in Canada :

A job offer from a Canadian employer can help you earn some points for permanent residency in Canada. Your job offer must be continuous, paid, and full-time for at least 1 year. Moreover, your job should not be seasonal. It is also necessary that the employment offer you have received be in an occupation listed as Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the NOC. Applicants with a validated employment offer get 10 points under this factor.

5. Work experience:

Your past work experience plays an important role in getting a PR invitation from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). However, your work experience should be listed in a National Occupation Classification (NOC) occupation list of Canada. You can get points based on your work experience in the last few years. The minimum work experience required is one year.

6. Language Skills:

English and French are Canada’s two official languages and to get PR in Canada, you must have a good command of English or French. You need to provide language test results obtained through an approved Test result for language ability in French or English proficiency with a minimum CLB 7 score in Express Entry.
